Tanzania has emerged as one of the fastest-growing source countries for medical tourism to India. Thousands of Tanzanian patients travel each year for cardiac surgery, oncology, neurosurgery, spine surgery, kidney transplant and BMT — primarily to hospitals in Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bangalore and Chennai.

How the Process Works

Step 1: Free Medical Opinion

Share your medical reports (in English or Swahili — we translate) via WhatsApp or email. Our team routes the case to the right specialist and you receive a treatment plan and itemised cost estimate within 24 hours.

Step 2: Medical Visa Application

India offers a dedicated Medical Visa (M) and Medical Attendant Visa (MX) for the patient and up to 2 attendants. We provide the hospital invitation letter (mandatory document) that you submit with your visa application at the Indian High Commission in Dar es Salaam. Processing typically takes 5–7 working days. eVisa option is also available for many cases.

Step 3: Flight to India

Direct and one-stop flight options from Dar es Salaam (DAR) and Kilimanjaro (JRO) to:

  • Delhi (DEL): via Nairobi, Addis Ababa, Doha or Dubai. Total travel time approx. 9–12 hours.
  • Mumbai (BOM): via Nairobi, Doha or Dubai. Total travel time approx. 9–11 hours.
  • Bangalore (BLR): via Doha or Dubai. Total travel time approx. 10–13 hours.

Step 4: Airport Pickup & Accommodation

Our team meets you at the arrival gate with a name placard and an air-conditioned vehicle. Accommodation is pre-booked near the hospital — options range from budget guest houses (USD 25–40/night) to mid-range hotels (USD 60–120/night) and serviced apartments (USD 80–180/night).

Step 5: Hospital Admission & Treatment

Specialist consultation typically on Day 1–2 of arrival. Surgery is usually scheduled within 7–14 days, sometimes sooner for urgent cases. Our case manager is available 24×7 throughout your stay.

Step 6: Discharge, Recovery & Return

Post-discharge recovery in accommodation under monitoring. Final fitness clearance for travel given by the treating doctor. We also provide post-departure tele-consultation support after you return to Tanzania.

Typical Total Cost — Cardiac Surgery Example

  • Hospital surgery package: USD 5,500–8,500 (CABG)
  • Round-trip flights (per person): USD 700–1,200
  • Visa fee (per person): USD 80–120
  • Accommodation (3 weeks total): USD 600–2,500
  • Local meals + transport: USD 300–600
  • Total: USD 7,200–13,000

Compare with USD 80,000–120,000 for the same procedure in the USA — even including all travel, the savings are massive.
